Devon Electric Bike Cycling Holiday

The Devon Electric BIke Cycling Holiday is a 4 day cycling trip starting and finshing in the stunning town of Salcombe. The route takes you along quiet rural lanes, through beautiful countryside and onto the moors and along the coast. Every corner is a new discovery and every hill is a peasure on the top of the range electric bikes.

Each day you'll cycle circa 40km on quiet rural lanes using both a map and GPS devices to help you find your way. Your luggage is transported from your accommodation every day and you'll have the oppournity to relax in the evenings or discover the nightlife of the Totnes, Tavistock, Noss Mayo and Salcombe.

  • The Tour

    The tour combines the beaches and estuaries of South Devon with the lush green valleys of the Dartmoor and The South Hams area. The route also skirts round the western flank of Dartmoor offering superb views of Devon and the surrounding area.

    Day 1 Salcombe to Totnes

    Leaving Salcombe, the route travels north along the 'Old Coach Road' towards Kingsbridge. You'll pass through the centre of Kingsbridge and continue north towards Totnes heading towards the Dart River and passing the beautiful villages of Blackawton, Tuckenhay and cycling along the bank of the River Dart to finish and the picturesque and qirky town of Totnes.

    Day 2 Totnes to Tavistock

    From Totnes to Tavistock you'll pass through the centre of Dartmoor and will be taking in some of the beautiful and very raw elements that the moor has to offer. Once at the top of the moor you'll be able to see for miles and enjoy panoramic views of Devon. The route takes you through Princetown where (if you book in, have the opportunity to visit the prison). The end destination is the bustling town of Tavistock.

    Day 3 Tavistock to Noss Mayo

    From Tavistock you will skirt around Dartmoor and meander along quiet country lanes passing small hamlets and villages. The South Hams provides spectacular scenery and you will soon begin to set your eyes on the coast. Finishing the tour in the picturesques village of Noss Mayo. Here you'll find one of the best pubs in South Devon, The Ship Inn where you can have a well deserved drink!

    Day 4 Noss Mayo to Salcombe

    The final day is a 40km ride out of Noss Mayo following the estuary towards Loddiswell along beautiful cuontry lanes. You'll cross the River Avon and take the rural route back into Salcombe.

  • Accommodation

    During your cycling tour you will stay in a selection of hotels or B&B accommodation. The accommodation is situated on the beach, in beautiful devon villages or in the moors.

    The hotels and B&B's have been selected for their customer service towards cyclists and their location.

    If you are booking as a single client you will be sharing a twin room with another client (of the same gender) unless you book a single room for a supplement of £100 (contact for availability).

  • Getting Here

    Salcombe is situated on the South West coast between Plymouth and Dartmouth nestled on the Salcombe Estuary. There is good access from the A38 connecting from the M5 motorway. Alternatively there are great trains links with London Paddington and Birmingham New Street with a change at Exeter St Davids. More information on train times and schedules can be found on the National Rail website. 

    If you are driving to Salcombe there are sevral long stay car parking in Salcombe or free area to park on the side of the road.
